The Contemporary Austin

The Contemporary Austin is a museum as well as an art school with locations in both central and downtown Austin.

The location at Laguna Gloria is one of my favorite spots around town. The museum is still in it’s original home on the Clara Driscoll estate, where it was known for 34 years as Laguna Gloria Art Museum. In 2013 Laguna Gloria changed it’s name to The Contemporary Austin. It consists of 14-acres overlooking Lake Austin and, in addition to the historic Driscoll Villa, includes the Gatehouse Gallery and the Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park at Laguna Gloria, where visitors may view temporary, long-term, and permanent contemporary sculpture and art installations.

I had an office party at The Contemporary Austin at Laguna Gloria and the setting could not have been better.

I loved the outdoor sculptures and the indoor installations. We had great food and a talented band. I would love to go to another party there anytime- The Contemporary Austin is somewhere that everyone should visit.
